Report #3 from ICOMOS

Speaking to the 17th General Assembly of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in Paris, Conference Chairperson Benjamin Mouton quoted Claude Levis-Strauss who said that “development” has had many more shipwreck victims than passengers. The message was clear that the heritage conservation movement must beware of those promising economic returns in exchange for compromising cultural resources. The General Assembly was attended by Prof Robert Shipley,  Director of the Heritage Resources Centre.
